[ OUR INVOLVEMENT ]

Switchback Physical Therapy is not just another physical therapy provider. Having spent several years in outpatient clinical settings where productivity measures and patient volume were consistently emphasized over quality of care, founder Chris Gering launched Switchback in order to restore the human element of physical therapy. Recognizing the value in building and sustaining relationships, we are committed to not only providing excellent patient care, but supporting our community in other beneficial ways, as well.

Many variables impact recovery and success with physical therapy, including emotional and mental well-being. These are, all too often, dismissed or ignored when attempting to solve orthopedic issues at face value. The reality is, though, that these factors play a crucial role in our lives, and can indirectly affect our orthopedic complaints.

Therefore, we not only advocate for the health of our fellow Washingtonians, but for the lands in which we reside! We are fully committed to supporting the hiking trails across Washington and the preservation of their surrounding environments, in order for us to all experience and enjoy them.

Run Talk Run.

Switchback PT is proud to also serve as the Run Leaders for the Seattle chapter of Run Talk Run (RTR). RTR is a global nonprofit aiming to make both running and mental health support less intimidating and more accessible. Run and talk, free from judgement or competition, with our community running groups.

Discussing mental health still remains taboo. You might have a feeling that you need somewhere to talk, but you don’t necessarily want to go to a GP or a therapist.

RTR believes that peer support and community can help, and running/jogging facilitates those conversations for us. There are so many reasons why running makes it easier to open up.

We are FREE to attend, for ALL abilities. We run as slow as the slowest runner. It is not paced or competitive!

Washington Trails Association.

We appreciate the WTA for their recognition of the benefit that nature and outdoors time provide for people’s minds, bodies, and souls. This has been supported widely throughout peer-reviewed literature. We also support their mission to maximize accessibility to the outdoors for people of all ages, experience, and ability levels.

The WTA provides extensive education for sustainable and safe hiking, creating equitable trail access and a more inclusive outdoor culture, and fostering a diverse and connected hiking community.

The Mountaineers

The Mountaineers work to protect the outdoor experience, largely through educational resources. They are fueled by a community of passionate volunteers working to promote and protect the outdoors for our current and future generations to enjoy. Conservation and responsible recreation are the emphases of this nonprofit.

We appreciate their numerous trips and classes for all ages and experience levels, from absolute beginners with a desire to get outside, to experienced outdoor adventurers. Their trips range from very easy to strenuous, and everything in between. Classes and activities range from hiking, climbing, scrambling, navigation, first aid, sailing, photography, and skiing, and organized community activities such as film festivals and potlucks.
